Micah Ray Aills is a singer, songwriter and musician born and raised in Ohio. From an early age, he had an emotional connection to songs he listened to while growing up. At the age of 13 he learned how to play guitar from his dad and immediately started singing, writing songs and recording them.
His first time playing in front of a crowd was at the middle school talent show. He first played out in public in a local country band when he was 17 years old. He started his first band with his brother Todd when he was 18 years old. This band later became known as Savannah Rose. The band played club gigs throughout the country in the mid to late 1990’s traveling all over the country. It was then that Micah grew as a singer, guitarist and songwriter.
When Savannah Rose broke up, Micah formed a 3 piece band called “The Getaways” which played locally in Ohio. This is when he really developed and broadened his writing and musical abilities.
In 2002 Micah auditioned for The Great Divide as a replacement front-man/lead singer/lead guitarist and got the job. He moved from Ohio to Oklahoma in 2003 and traveled and played shows with The Great Divide until 2007.
In 2004, he recorded three songs with The Great Divide, but it wasn’t until 2005 that the band recorded and released a new album. The album was titled “Under Your Own Sun”. Micah stayed with the Great Divide promoting the album until the band went on hiatus in 2007. Micah then moved back to Ohio.
After returning to Ohio, he played some local gigs but for the most part took a break from playing live and focused on family and writing.
